I know this is a strange question.
My baby rarely if every cries when she wakes up. Is this normal?

| How old is she? Most babies tend to go through stages- sometimes crying, sometimes not.

| Infants are born with different personalities, some full of sound and fury and some so placid you hardly know they're there. If your baby doesn't cry much, but is eating well, pooping well, growing well, and hitting the developmental milestones within normal time frames, count your blessings that you got an easy one! next time you may not be so lucky.

how old is she? did she ever cry when she woke up, or just recently?
does she not cry during the day under circumstances that you would expect her to cry?

My babies never cry when they wake up. They just open their eyes and look around peacefully, sometimes smiling. If they arnt picked up and given attention, then usually within five minutes theyre crying, but sometime they can lay happy for 20.
If they wake up screaming its usuallly beecause they are very hungry, teething, or some other reason.

| Mine only cried if it wasn't a very good sleep- that's how I knew he needed to go back to sleep for a little longer. If it was a good sleep- no crying upon waking. Even now, being a toddler who generally sleeps one 2 hour nap, on the rare occasion that he wakes up after an hour and a half, he's a total crab, but hen he sleeps the whole way through, he wakes up babbling and laughing.

This question is a bit different from the ones I usually see on Imamother - most women are nervous when their babies cry, not when they don't!
That said, every baby has a different personality. My oldest would wake up and talk to himself (even as a very young baby - he still talks a lot now), my middle one cried more, and my youngest, well, it depends on her mood. She usually wakes up calmly, and if I don't take her out within a few minutes, she cries for attention.
Just be glad that your baby seems to have a happy personality BH!

OP here, my baby is 4 months and has never cried when she woke up except a few times right at the beginning (when I was exhausted having gone 4 nights without sleep for the labor/ birth/ hospital stay so she might have been awake for longer without me attending to her.)
Right now, I know when she has woken up just from hearing her move around. She is the same in the day and in the night.
She does cry at other times, usually when she is hungry and already awake or if I'm playing with her and she suddenly gets bored.

OP again.
I forgot to say that I was worrying because I ready that children with autism are like this as babies.

| By the same token, children with other disorders are screamers as babies. And some children with autism are fine till they hit a certain age, when suddenly they regress. If your baby is smiling, laughing, making eye contact and hitting all the other developmental milestones, you have no reason to worry at this point.
