We're hitting the road in 8 days! All our bags are packed South Bend here we come 
We made the decision almost two years ago to leave Lakewood. We explored many out of town communities and settled on South Bend after a wonderful shabbos visit.
My DH and DD are so excited and we cannot wait to meet everyone. If anyone needs anything brought in from Lakewood, just let me know. We are coming in on August 1st!

The moving trailer is arriving tomorrow. We have 3 days to load it up before it's picked up, and trucked off to South Bend

there's a Jewish community in South Bend, Indiana?
How long has there been a substantial community there (sorry if I sound like I just fell off a hay truck..but there are things you learn every day)

I'm jealous!! I want to move and that's where I want to move to. Any job for my husband? He's not schooled in any field, but he's a fantastic worker and can do anything. I'm not being prejudiced, his mil says it too .
My daughter says she doesn't care where we move as long as the crime rate is low because she was mugged where we live. How's the crime rate there?

I should start a new thread on this, but I sometimes am shocked by people who seem to believe there are no Jews outside of the Tri-State area, or Chicago California and Florida.
I am a convert, but people who have never seen me, when I email or chat them, and they find out I'm from Indiana, say "you must be a convert."
Like there are no Jews in vowel states.
So interesting that there has been a long-standing community in South Bend. I have loads of questions because I would like to write something about the history of Jews in Indiana, especially given issues with the Ku Klux Klan in the 20s, who were very powerful in the State.
I'll never forget the time I was in Key Foods in Indy with my now ex-husband, who is a chossid. A lady came running up to us and immediately began speaking to my husband in Hebrew. It was quite moving.
While kosher food was hard to find in Indy once upon a time (as I have heard from others) the Key foods has a kosher section the size of many 7-11s! even bamba, mealmart, the whole bit.

I'm from Indianapolis. We used to get together with other NCSY'ers from South Bend. 40 years ago there were at least 2 orthodox shuls there.

Our things are three quarters of the way packed in the trailer, which will be picked up on Thursday, and hauled off to our new home
Scared? Nervous? Excited? I think I'm experiencing all there simultaneously!
