Lost and found green card

My husband got his green card and then lost it. Two weeks before he found it, he started the process on getting a new one again by filling out the I-90 form. He got the appointment for the bio-metrics, but reasons that I don't want to disclose, it will be difficult for him to go. He spoke to two supervisors and two other workers at the INS and got different answers. I was wondering if anyone here had this issue or one similar to it and can tell me if the original green card, the one that was found, is still good or it's cancelled or is going to be cancelled. Please respond ASAP if you know. Thank you very much!!

If you reported it lost, and you use it even if it is yours you can get into serious trouble. INS is not something you want to play with. I would do everything in my power to make the appointment, no matter how inconvenient it is. If you get this messed up, you may not be able to get citizenship in the future.

Have you tried calling them and telling them you found it? I doubt it but there might be a way they can "un-cancel" it.

I agree with mommy3.5 though, once they cancel it and start the new process, its as if the other one is invalid even with your name and id on.

My husband spoke to 4 different people and we got 4 different answers. Do you know for a fact that once you start the process again, the original one gets cancelled or just guessing? That's what I need to know.

The fact that you got 4 different answers, tells me no one knows. and if no one knows, you had better do everything in your power to keep the appointment. Its not worth losing your status over.
