Substitute for sesame oil?

Is there such a thing as a substitute for sesame oil? I'm allergic to sesame and I know that sesame oil is supposed to give foods an added flavor. Is there anything that I can use instead that will give a similar flavor?

maybe walnut or peanut oil? I think it would depend on the recipe and other ingredients.

There really is no substitute the best u can do is saute some garlic in ur oil and at least flavor it somehow but thats the best u can do

Check with your allergist. I know people who are severly allergic to sesame seeds but not the oil.

I don't have any specific recipe in mind right now but often I make recipes that call for sesame oil and I either substitute regular oil or just skip it. Lately, I've been reading here on imamother about the flavor that it adds to food and I'm thinking that I'm missing something yummy:)
