just wondering, does anyone know like how it works? (no , im not going to audition or anything Laughing

) I just wanted to know about it- how do pple do the original auditions, or whatever its called-when they try out... what do u do in Las Vegas. what does the grand winner get.... does anyone know? (I tried googling it, but didnt really chap what they were writing there)

I think you stand in a line in the audition city and they let some people in, and only show some oof the acts filmed (the ones that go through, and the oens they make fun of)
Las Vegas is where they narrow it down to who they really want to keep, now that they have too many people. If they have too many female singers, they will only pick a few, etc. after that is the real show, which I think is in NYC where they take 4 out of 12 every week
Grand winner gets I think a million dollars and a headline show in las vegas. not sure about teh details

Anyone who wants to audition has to register in advance. Then there are pre-auditions without the judges. From that they pick a number of acts to audition in front of the judges in each city. The vast majority never even make it to that stage.

At those auditions, the judges vote on which acts can go to Vegas. They usually pick 200-300 acts. In vegas they go over all the auditions they saw. they send some straight home, some sstraight to the quarter finals and the majority have to re-audition. They do this part in "genres". So, for example, they would have all the male singers go in a row so they can really compare and put through the best. All the magicians one after the next. etc. In total only 48 acts can make it through to the next round, so a lot go home.

Then comes the quarter finals - usually in hollywood, this year in New York. This is where the show goes "live" and the vote gets turned over to the public. There are 4 quarter finals. Each night 12 acts perform and 4 make it through to the next round.
