| |
DD who was in graduate school until now, had Medicaid Community plan and was supposed to send in documentation to continue it. She didnt send it in by the deferred date, I think its called, because she got a job offer and planned on getting insurance there, but the job didnt work out. Now she has no health insurance and was told by insurance that she has to wait 45 days after re-applying to be back on.
Is there an agency or person that can help speed things up so that shes not without insurance for this time? Were in Brooklyn, and she'll go anywhere nearby to speed things up.

| do you have health insurance? I believe if she's under 26 she can be on your policy. check with your own insurance.

| Just so she knows for the future- many jobs won't provide benefits for the first three months of work.

If insurance wasnt so outrageously expensive Id tell her to get it on her own.

unless she has medical issues how much is outrageously expensive?
you can get short term insurance for not to much. $120/month is what I paid as a single girl about 5 years ago (not including maternity coverage). short term insurance should be even cheaper.

| I think it varies by provider and/or state but my work just gave out a sheet that says children can be on parental insurance until the age of 30, unless they are married. Maybe speak to your insurance provider and check that out as an option?

She should be able to get a plan as an individual for not too much money a month. I insured DD#1 and myself for around $200 a month through Anthem/Blue Cross when DH's job didn't cover us. _________________ mommy to 2 girls, 1 boy
