How do you iron a g'string?
Just kidding. Couldn't resist.
My DH folds his, but mine really are too narrow. First I need to buy briefs and then learn how to fold them.
DH matches his socks too, before they go in the drawer.
It's a personality thing. I'm just so glad I don't need to do that. To me, it's a waste of time. But then again, I don't fold towels either. I have a towel drawer.
Dare I post this under my screen name??

I am the amother who irons boxers. Yes, I know what a crazy busy schedule is. I take care of my housework before I go on a site like this. Sometime I have my cleaning lady iron. If she is not around I iron. I iron boxers because they bunch and I am told they are uncomfortable in the crotch.
I iron baby clothes and hair ribbons also.
All of you who don't iron, it is obvious to those that do. To me, there is a negected look. It does not look sharp and polished.
Back to my question, if it is so ok not to fold your underwear, why ask?
And Marina I was not smoking crack last night although I do my best organizing when I can hyperfocus in same.

What???? You send it out? You don't do it yourself, making sure to wash the clothes in homemade soap with filtered water? For shame! |
I used to do that, but my butcher stopped providing me with beef tallow, so now I can't make soap. and my husband is categorically against filters after the asifa. so in order to preserve shalom bayis, I send it out. fortunately my rabbi is also a dry cleaner, so when I send in a stain I get it back clean, starched and pressed! all rabbis should have such professions!

We look pretty good. In fact we probably overdress. The frum world is not so difficult, bh - but also among non jews.
Baby clothes? Ribbons?? uncomfortable in the crotch?? well, I don't know. All this wouldn't fly with me... _________________

I think the key point here is that if your cleaning lady isn't ironing, she's doing other things so that you CAN iron. Tell me how crisp your underwear is when you're taking care of your entire household singlehandedly.
In case you ever find yourself in that dreadful position, let me reveal some deep secrets: They sell wrinkle-free fabrics that if you hang them up right out of the dryer, they really do look smooth! Mostly. And for knits, there's this amazing stuff http://www.amazon.com/Downy-Wr.....e+releaser that really works! For t-shirts and that kind of material that doesn't need to look starched. As for all those neglected people who don't iron, what are you doing looking at their underwear anyway?

My un ironed underpants are so noticeable. Very unpolished.
My son wears knit boxers. My husband wears knit briefs. My daughter and me, panties, all 100 percent. Cotton
You could so not tell if my underwear is ironed.

A role model!! A non-crack smoking, baby clothes and hair ribbons, de-bunching crotch of boxers, ironing-before-imamother, imamother. You are amazing. Really.
I'm a lazy, addicted to imamother, relies on drawers and wrinkle free settings, imamother-with-wrinkled-underwear, imamother.

Shirts and Shabbos clothes that need it get ironed in my house. I do not iron anything else. (ok, my cleaning lady does it. And if I didn't have a cleaning lady I would not iron as much stuff.)

Look, I don't own an iron and I do fold my underwear and everything, but I have a question.
The lady who irons everything- what is so bad about that? Is it so bad to take a lot of pride in your housekeeping? Just because it's not your type to do it doesn't make you a bad person either , but it doesn't make her weird or bad just cuz she loves to iron.

I find underwear lays better in drawers if they aren't folded.
I wear jeans and tshirts to work and am often found climbing in tanks and boilers. No one will notice a wrinkle LOL. Now my hair, that is neglected. _________________ Never mistake activity for achievement.

| I recently bought two extra laundry baskets because the clean laundry was always sitting int he laundry baskets and I couldn't unload the dryer and keep the flow of clean laundry coming. so now there are 5 clean laundry baskets floating around the different bedrooms. some of my kids like folding and putting away their clean laundry, some don't. I always share my room with at least one laundry basket, and one hamper, both full. I have noticed that the faster I wash laundry, fold it and put it away, the faster the baskets refills. so its a no win game. and I haven't taken out my iron since I was a newlywed and tried ironing my dh's shirts. after that first time, he started giving all his shirts to the cleaners (because he loves me so much.) maybe if I start ironing the rest of his clothes he'll send that out too....

I don't watch people to see if they don't iron. It is sort of like when someones hose has a run. I am not inspecting, it just catches my eye.
My husband sends his shirts to the dry cleaner. He gets them pressed with heavy starch on the collars and cuffs. It is such a nice look for Shabbos. To my eye, the men whose shirts are not pressed just don't look right.
The crotch thing, I also don't know. It makes sense to me when the problem was explained. As far as baby clothes, it is my pleasure. I received gorgeous baby clothes with beautiful details. I love having my kids look as if they are wearing brand new. It just does not look the same after washing without ironing.

Black Sheep, buying a separate hamper for clean laundry is a brilliant idea! I should do that, then it won't sit on the couch when it waits to get put away! And the other hamper won't have to be fully emptied in order to use it to bring things up from the machine! SO clever. Only I'm sure if I actually create such a designated place for clean laundry, and the couch stays empty, that will probably ensure that the laundry never gets put away

Curious: Do they still look like they're wearing brand new five minutes later? Even when my baby's clothes WERE brand new, they didn't look that way within five minutes. Kids move around, their clothes wrinkle, and then they get stuff on themselves. How many times a day do you have to change them in order to keep the perfectly pressed look???

I'm very into clothes and wouldn't go about (or probably even stay home! ) looking not right, and I don't see what you mean unless the clothes are wrinkled, which I don't like on an adult. My dad, a retired designer, doesn't iron...
I prefer keeping my money for more important -or funnier- stuff...
I dress my kids in gorgeous clothes, and do not see differences after washing. I also can't recognize whether a man irons his shirt, nor a woman, unless again it is wrinkled.
The last time I wore ironed was probably on my engagement, and in retrospect it wasn't needed...

I never said that people who don't iron hairbows look neglected. I can't think of a single hairbow I ever ironed. Ribbons and bows are different.
