1. Ask the ped about possible UTI

2. If no medical cause - be sure he goes to the bathroom; he might be too busy playing to notice when he needs to "go!" When dd was around that age, we made a rule that she had to try to use the toilet at certain times of day, and built it into our daily schedule.

3. We also made a sticker chart for dry panties. First we checked three times a day, then decreased it over time until she was more mature. No scolding, just "yes, you get a sticker" or "no sticker, try again this afternoon."

Hope this helps!

With several of my kids (and I have a 4 year old right now) I found that they occasionally needed "refresher" toilet training courses.

Like suddenly they would lapse and be wetting....or with my 4 year old, she's been night-trained for ages and suddenly had accidents 3X in one week....

What I do is, I reinstitute the rewards system I used for training, temporarily. If it's a daytime issue, I give them chocolate lentils, one for wet and 2 for dirty - every time they use the toilet. It's an incentive for them to keep on top of it. It usually takes about 3 days for them to be back on track.

I gave my DD two lentils in the morning for being dry....and that was the end of the accidents B"H. After about 3 days she forgot to keep asking for her treat so it just petered out....and B"H no more bed-wetting.
