has anyone heard of the frum chassidish israeli couple who gave birth in America after 12 years to....BLACK twins??? I'm horrified, just can't believe it but now I heard it from a few pple already so it must be true!! my friend told me she heard about it a month ago...so maybe I just missed some post here...

I'm shocked to the core and petrified....can this really happen??

Anyone???

About a year or so ago there was a black couple who gave birth to a blond-haired, fair-skinned baby.

Yes, this happened. In this case, the parents were mixed race.

Also, there are instances where fertility clinics make mistakes. We have DNA testing, so it's pretty easy to determine whether it was negligence or whether the parents have mixed genes.

thanks, I know that in the world these things happened but I'm talking about this particular story that just happened recently and to a frum couple, IVF done with Hashgacha of course...

Nobody heard about this???

I can't find any mention using Google.
So what caused this, genes or a mistake?
In any case, they are the couple's children, and Jewish, right? So really, there's no practical issue. I hope people just treat them normally.

There were some articles published by the Puah Institute that cited an example of aSwedish couple (blonde, blue-eyed) that gave birth by IVF to a Black baby. There was a mix-up in the clinic.

Their point was that these particular cases, it is obvious that a mistake occurred somewhere along the line. But who knows how many times mix-ups in handling genetic material occur and it is not readily detected? They were highlighting the need to have regulators accompany the handling of genetic material every step of the way during the IVF process.

It has happened that eggs get mixed up but rarely and also they usually have hashgacha and are triple checked by the head of the lab.

And also just because something was heard from a few people doesn't mean it is true.

Guess they really kept it top secret if nobody round here heard this. I now know for sure that this is a true story, I even know the name and relatives of the family, and yes this is a real tragedy...

I heard the same rumor that you did. but it's just that - rumor. We dont know that it really happened.
