| |
Hi everyone!
Expecting surprise baby. I have no baby gear in my home
The stroller(s) I bought 11 years for #1 was the Peg Perego Venezia and Maclaren's Techno.
I am completely and totally clueless about the newer brands like Bugaboo, City Mini, etc.
I do know the following:
- I want something that is easy to fold and un-fold for getting on the bus or in a cab. Lightweight is a must!
- I'm on a tight budget - I'm aiming for $300 and under. I'd rather use the cash and buy a small car.
- Both my husband and I are tall so the handles has to be high and/or adjustable.
- Still not decided on getting a snap-n-go for the infant seat or just getting a stoller that good for newborns+.
- I had a love/hate relationship with my Maclaren (squeaky wheels) so I'm not too keen that brand.
What else is new in baby land?
Suggestions?
Thank you dear Imamothers for your advice
Violet

| Why not the City mini? Its less than 200, lightweight, folds easily, and can accommodate a young baby. Can accommodate a carseat with an adapter. Not sure about the handle, but I see many people have it--its popular for a reason. ( I dont personally have it, though I considered it).

| I'll probably be getting the city mini. It folds very easily, pushes very easily, and is light. The adaptor to attach a car seat costs an additional $90, I'm told, so I won't be using a car seat with it. Th only thing I don't love is that the basket is smaller than what I'm used to. Not extremely small, but not great.

I tried a relatives "baby jogger" it was a city classic & it was awful to push. The mountain buggy is the best, best, easiest to push, fold , great basket, bassinet option, car seat adapters .
Very well built. Mine is 6 years old & is like new. Check out www.mountainbuggy.com

If you want something for the bus and cabs, there are lots of nice lightweight umbrella strollers, even some that take carseats or recline all the way. Besides the ones mentioned by thedudette, you can look for:
Cybex Onyx
Joovy Groove
Chicco Liteway
If you really expect to use it on public transport a lot, I'd get something with a proper umbrella fold; anything else, even a City Mini, takes up way too much space.
Of the ones that have been mentioned, I'd say Bumbleride Flite is my favorite for you. Check out http://www.babygizmo.com/media/video_bumblerideflite2011.php. _________________ http://crunchyandkosher.blogspot.com/

| Why don't you go to a store that carries many strollers so you can try them out and see what you like and will work for you? Many places have helpful salespeople who can guide you.

| I LOVE my chicco liteway. It is my only stroller. It takes two moves to fold, it's super lightweight and has good back support. It also folds almost flat.

I had 2 different joovy carriages and neither of them were able to bounce up stairs so keep that in mind if you have to go up and down

Lightweight strollers don't, as a rule, bump up and down well. The wheels are too small. But there are tradeoffs, such as the lighter weight and smaller fold. There's no such thing as a lightweight stroller that bumps like a dream. Someday I'm going to invent an umbrella stroller with 9-inch wheels and make a fortune.

Plus, they are just about to roll out their own brand of stroller so I wanted to check that out!

Ooh you gave me tons of eye candy to look at! I love the P&T. Re: Maclaren it was a common issue they had back then. But I'm glad to here that issue is no longer there. Violet

I remember one of the things I didn't like about my Maclaren was the fold. Violet

| I've seen the city-mini in action. It's really wonderful, very light, like other's mentioned, easy to fold and very modular pieces. When a piece got sort of bent out of shape(wheel) after being squashed in the trunk- it was replaced no questions asked. The replacement was as easy as 1-2-3

| For lightweight and an easy fold, I would go with the City Mini or the Inglesina Zippy. Check out Albee Baby for great prices.

The City Mini Double car seat adapter is $90, the adapter for the single stroller is more like $50.
