The protein in Kashi cereals is soy based.
What about seeds? Pumpkin seeds? Sunflower seeds? Nuts? Roasted almonds with some dried cranberries would be yummy. My DH is doing the Primal Diet and he says he feels great - eats nuts/seeds/fruits/veg during the day and then meat/fruit/veg for supper. He feels 100% better - he had huge sugar lows when he would start out the day carb heavy (and no matter what the cereal or how whole grain it is, it's cab heavy and will set up a sugar cycle). The dizziness could be your body bottoming out.
And, Skippy peanut butter? Peanut flavored shortening with sugar. Seriously. Read the ingredients.

what's the primal diet? and how is your son not hungry?
thing is, I tried going off carbs completely, but felt like my body needed some carbs, so it did not work for me....
I already eat oatmeal, whole greain bread, etc. but to be honest, I don't find that it helps.

You can google it but it's basically protein (non-soy), fermented dairy (yogurt, cheese) in moderation, fruit, and veg with minimal grains. Protein is more filling than carbs so it stays with you longer. Really, he's not hungry and if he is, he has a handful of nuts. And we eat lots of veg - like 2-3 different salads with every meal - this helps immensely. My personal opinion (I.e. not backed by science that I know of) is that in North America we have so many carbs in our diets that are completely devoid of nutrition (pretty much most processed food has little to no nutrition - including whole grain bread), that our bodies are starving for vitamins and minerals we need.
oatmeal and whole grain bread will still create the sugar high and then drop in your body.
