How do you bathe your infant from the age 6-12 months?
My baby's too big for sink, too big for baby bathtub yet too small to allow him to be in big tub. When I give him a bath in big tub, he jumps out of my hands right into the water every other second.

baby bath ring
http://www.albeebaby.com/lebacubari.html
it's soft and baby can sit in it. (it can also be used to lay a baby down in the bathtub filled with just a bit of water as well) _________________ Really Awesome Mom!

| We used an old-fashioned baby bath that was flat on the bottom, not shaped like a recliner. There was plenty of room for an older infant. Do they still make them that way?

is it really unsafe that I let my daughter sit in the big tub alone from 6 months? I have a good rubber mat for grip of course.
I start off washing her up, and then I let her play, she crawls around a bit to get to the toys, and if she tries to start standing bath time is over... I hope I'm not being careless, but I thought once they could sit alone it was ok to have them sit alone - obviously I am right there sitting on the floor near the bath tub supervising.

Why not, as long as you are right there?
Those who choose to use a smaller tub find it easier to "corral" the baby for washing, and maybe easier to clean up after.

At first I put my ds on a grip mat in the bath and I watched/held him all the time.
I then bought a seat that suctions onto the bath tub floor and its great because I can leave him for a few seconds to get something and not worry he will fall.

Your baby doesn't dip his head in the water, and turn around and flip over?

I put her in the big bath with not too much water and hold her on with one hand the whole time while bathing her with the other. _________________ Sunday social program forming in Brooklyn for children with social delays. Pm me for more info

| I used to lay a towel down in the big tub and put the baby laying on her back, with only a few inches of water...

I used the First Years Infant to Toddler tub until DD was around 15 months old. She didn't have tons of room in it at the end but she wasn't uncomfortable and frankly all I needed was enough water to bathe her. I put it inside the regular bathtub.
A couple of times I just did her straight in a regular bathtub, like if we were away for a few days. It was a little nerve wracking though, having to hold on to a slippery baby the whole time. I kept DH right at my side for backup.

| My baby was already sitting nicely by six months, so I just put him straight in the big tub with a bath mat. I suppose if your baby is not sitting so well, you could support with one hand and wash with the other. Or just get the bath ring. My problem now (at 13 months) is that he keeps standing up in the tub and trying to climb out, and I worry about him falling before I have the chance to catch him...

| dd was 9months old when I switched her to the big tub (she was in the sink till then but was starting to climb out onto the counter if she saw s/t interesting maily e/t)she loved(s) it I didn't put in to much water so she was able to crawl around . if baby sits and you supervise it should be no prob. no fancy gadgets needed.

| I used this until my dd was 8 months old. By then she was standing up (holding on) and I started giving her showers because she absolutely HATES the bath and it was getting scary to have her in the bathtub.

Please don't leave your baby alone in the tub, even in a seat, not even for a second! It is very dangerous.
