| |
I work full time and come home tired, maybe emotionally exhausted from "life".
I like my job and love having guests. I just don't know when to stop trying to be the perfect hostess, and I always end up not getting rest over shabbos that I know I need.
On the other hand I love getting to know other people and developing relationships!
Any practical advise would really be appreciated!!
Thanks!!

host company for only 1 Shabbos meal. that way you either get a good nights rest or a nap.
make simple, but yummy food I stay away from almost anything with more than 1 step or bowl.

Keep meals simple. We started just serving salad as an appetizers instead of with the meal.
Batch cook things like kugel.
Realize guests want your company more than food.
Only host 1 meal. Serve the same dishes at both. _________________ Never mistake activity for achievement.

each time you make something complicated, make a few and freeze. Kugels, soup, desserts. Host one meal per shabbos.
People eat less then you think. Serve less food. most people serve way too much food on shabbos. No one needs fish, 3 salads, 4 dips, soup, 2 types of meat, 3 sides and 2 vegetable dishes. (I think this is a fairly typical shabbos meal)

Take breaks. You don't need to have guest every shabbos. Learn how to cook and serve things that are easy. _________________ Sunday social program forming in Brooklyn for children with social delays. Pm me for more info

Thanks for all your good advice!
I will definitely make 1 dish dishes this week.
And I will double quantities. I do utilize my freezer in this way as much as I can.
My dh does the shopping most of the time, so that helps, for sure.
Meanwhile, not having guests this week, so for sure I'll doubling and freezing in mind.
I'll update you all next time I have guests to tell you how it went!!
Shabbat Shalom to everyone!
