I have a city mini that is about 5 years old. iyh I am having a baby in a few weeks. Can I use it for a newborn? can you buy a carrycot/carseat to fit in it or is that only with the newer models?

You can put an infant in the city mini if you lay the seat all the way down. I never bought the car seat adapter, I used a snap n go when it was easier to have the baby in a carseat.

I have a car seat adapter for the Citi min but it is biig and bulky and you cannot fold the City mini with the adapter in place.

I agree get an inexpensive snap and go frame for the car seat and when your baby is big enough transfer to the citimini.

There is a car seat adapter for it. My SIL was very happy with hers.

snap n go is the easiest thing for the first few months.

you could put infant in a city mini laying flat. but I found (with my double) that my 3 mo old had a hard time going to sleep in it (I think it was bc of the bulky straps...)
also the car seat adapater so ive heard is bulky and takes away from the whole swift fold of the city mini

Not everyone likes their baby to be in a carseat for periods greater than 2 hours due to spinal development.

City Mini can be used from newborn.

As your model is 5 years old, the options are....
1) Deluxe hard carry cot made by babyjogger (note that the newer compact and compact plus carrycot won't fit)
2) Use a soft coccoon which you can attach via the d-rings in the city mini. Options include

a)Petite Star Zia Cocoon
b)Graco Soft Carry Cot
c)Phil & Teds Cocoon (not sure how long this will last - I remember it seeming quite little)
d)Bugaboo cocoon (probably pricey)

I put my baby in the city mini from the time he came home (4 weeks old), but everyone here I know uses it for a newborn. I didn't even think of getting a soft cot for the D rings. Next time...

you can get a bassinet, or use it with a car seat adapter, or use it as is laid down flat. I did use it from the start as is, but I will say that my baby HATED the stroller until she was a couple months old....

thanks for your help!

I'll check out the bassinet options.

I have another older stroller I can use with a car seat if needed.

I got my citi mini when my daughter was six months old. I didn't feel she was safely strapped in. even with the straps at the smallest they went. She was a very skinny baby, so that might have been the problem. My Brice is chubbier and also looked pretty insecure in it st about two months old to. My stroller is a 2010 model, so before most of the fixes. Personally, I would not use it for a newborn.
