| |
I am considering doing this. a few questions:
-Has it been proven to be safe? no risk? side effects? Etc... For some reason it feels not so healthy to be exposed to those rays but maybe I'm wrong.
-Can I do it if I had already done electrolysis there? It was working but slowly and I don't want to continue.
- About how long does it take most people, how many sessions?
- Is it very painful? how does it compare to electrolysis or waxing?
- Price?
and anything else you might want to add... feel free
thanks!!

| I did it. 8 times. Then, after a baby it returned. The upper lip is one of those hormonal areas. I was told in advance that I might have to come back for one visit after a baby. As of yet I didn't.

I don't remember the price.
It is painful but stops hurting after it's done.
It didn't catch my lighter hairs.
I have to go once a year for maintenence.
Don't remember the price because did a few things.

Never lasered facial hair, but when I was lasering other areas the woman lasering me mentioned she also does electrolysis. I asked her why someone would do electrolysis over laser, and she said that for some women lasering facial hair first activates other hair to grow before getting rid of all of it, and some women prefer to just electrolysis to not have to go through that.
Just giving you a heads up; I wonder if any amothers experienced that?

I am currently doing laser on my sides, upper lip, chin and neck area. As the previous poster mentioned it is the most hormonal.
I have done several sessions and have thank G-d seen improvement
The hair is growing back EXTREMELY slowly and WAAAAY lighter and thinner than before.
Then again, I am pregnant now and who knows what will happen after the baby comes along.
The pain is really tolerable.
Up until now I was doing threading and had to do it every two weeks.
Now with laser I go every 8 weeks.
It is great.
I really hope that after the baby it'll grow even less!

I have done laser on upper lip and I am exremely satisfied. I do have some stubborn hairs that have to be treated by electrolysis (thats what my laser technician tells me), that laser wont take care of.
laser is painful and costly, (so is elect.) but when you compare it to electrolysis you are much better off.
with laser:
you see results sooner
you have to go much more seldom
it takes faster per session
lasts longer
also, a good tip that im surprised noone mentioned is using EMLA. its a topical numbing cream that makes a world of a difference. its behind the counter but any doc should be willing to perscribe it for you. all you do is smear it on about an hour before your appt and you get the area numb. it really makes the experience pain-free or at least much more bearable.

| I've done both laser and electrolysis years ago but I gave up on both on my upper lip and chin. Since I have lighter skin, I just bleach now. My problems with laser is that you are supposed to shave unwanted hair between sessions. Too weird for my face!!! Electrolysis does not want you to pluck in between sessions so you are stuck with a hairy face in between appointments. Now I pluck and bleach. Not perfect but I was not satisfied with other options.

| I did electrolysis for a long time w/ fair results. I love laser in that I am clean for quite a period of time (I go once every 10-12 weeks), while with electrolysis you can't get every single hair at a session. as far as pain is concerned, I use the emla cream and it's definitely bearable, not much worse than electrolysis (it dpends on the the frequency that is used. I believe that the frequency is increased as the hairs get finer. In Brooklyn (Boro Park) I recommend laser image but I've never tried anyone else to compare.

I have done laser on a few areas, including upper lip. I stopped in middle so I didn't get rid of everything completely, but it is definitely lighter and thinner. I wax much less often now. I can't speak for everyone, but IME it was a lot less painful than waxing. Bikini and underarm are probably the most sensitive areas, and I did flinch sometimes but that was it. It is not comparable to waxing in terms of pain, and of course it is much quicker.
Oh, and I got pregnant and had a baby since then and I don't think anything changed.
