Why do you wear black clothing?

Reading "When did our women start wearing black?", "Wearing Black", "Maternity clothing all black?!"...etc

I can't help but ask...

I dont wear only black but when I do its cuz its the most slimming color.

other: I wear black because it's the "color" most available in the tzniyus stores. Evil or Very Mad

I answered that I don't wear only black, however I wear mostly black (or dark denim) skirts because I have a clothing system for work: Black or denim skirt + black or white shell + any top = outfit! I don't want to think in the morning how to coordinate which whatever with what, so I just stick to this and it generally works. Smile

I tend not to wear all black though, unless it's a winter wedding.

I wear colors and jean skirts during the week, but for shabbos it's a whole other story when it comes to long dresses....

it was so sad, I went shopping for long dresses in JC penny and I was basicly limited to only black... not because I believe it has anything to do w/ tznius, but because I did not want to get something bright and stand out in my community....

I kinda consider it minhag hamakom in my area and I would feel like a sore thum to wear the dressed I wanted to get.... (I like bright bold colors)

how I miss my out of town community where I could wear anything and everything and not looked at funny!!!

I don't wear only black but I wear it a lot because it matches anything and I can just pull anything on without thinking too much about it. In addition it doesn't show as much dirt.

I wear black bec I think its the most slimming color. Also, I'm a conformist and cant see myself sticking out in a crowd. I enjoy seeing other people in color though.

This is OT a bit, but wearing color can sometimes be taken too far by the frum woman who *want* to stand out and wear color. My friend bought a robe that was so colorful, it was hard to look at her without getting dizzy- the design and colors were dizzying. She looked like she was in the circus. It was so ugly.

I wear black because I look good in that color and it makes me look put together without trying hard. I'm not generally a stylish person. In the summer I tend to wear more colors . Last summer was the first summer I did not wear a single black item of clothes.

I wear black, brown, dark blue and gray skirts in the winter.

That's about the extent of my "black" wardrobe.

If it's for slimming, well, the bad news is that it's not necessarily slimming on you. You may need beige, or you may need davka redirecting the eye to a slimmer part with bright colours...

I don't know why people dress in tznius shops. It's imo expensive, and bad quality for the price, unless the price is absolutely huge.

There is a world between black and bright colours.
