Do I have to put my daughter plush challah, plastic 'breads', or cardboard 'snack boxes' away for Pesach? She never takes them around actual chametz, but will seeing it and playing with it cause an issue?

Halachically? No, you don't have to put them away. If you don't think it's in the spirit of Pesach, you can put them away.

Could you imagine if we had to take away pictures of say Shabbos.?

I have a gorgeous tapestry of a Shabbos table. It would never occur to me to cover it or replace it with one of a Pesach table.

Well, I guess it can make a cute play ritual with your daughter to put all the "Chometz" toys in a special place for Pesach.

Exactly. Do you know the song: 'Put away the pretzels, put a away the break, put away the challah and take matzah out instead." ? You can sing it with her, put all the chametz toys away and buy her a couple of matzah toys special for pesach. fun!

This. Last year my then-five-year-old got very upset that he had "chametz" in his "kitchen". So we found a tub and I let him sort through all the kitchen toys...he took out everything that wasn't fruit or veggies and we put them in the tub and made a "chametz" sign and had Abba take them down to where we were storing what we had sold. And then I went to IKEA and bought some "Pesachdik" play dishes...(I should probably figure out where I put them away last year, right?)

There is no halacha that says to put them away, but since bread/challah is not very pesachdik (and for children, those toys mean a lot - they see them differently than us), it may be cute and educational to lookfor all of them, put them away and get out plush matzah etc.

Then again, not necessary but cute chinuch.
