Looking for a name for the little guy in my belly ... I felt like we were totally at a loss for ideas but now I have something in mind:

Micah/Micha - pronounced probably with the hard "ch" sound as in "challah", tho the other pronunciation sounds nice to me too (like in the word formica - not that I want my kid to be associated with laminate, lol).
This name would be in large part after my grandfather who was Michael/Misha (Russian)... but DH and I both don't like the name Michael- and Micah/Micha is just different (but similar) enough.

&

Aryeh - Just like the idea of having the strength of the lion in the name... No other good reason besides that I like the name, like the way it sounds together, it's not already taken by my friends' kids, and I like the nickname (Ari) (plus it doesn't hurt that I'm a big cat person, lol)...

What do you think of my tentative name choice? Does Micah Aryeh have a nice ring to it (or was there some terrible person with this name that I should know about??)) Does is maybe sound better switched around to Aryeh Micah?

Any opinion on the different spellings of the 2 names - Micha/Micah and Ariyeh/Aryeh/Arieh??

Our DS goes by Shaya - so we need to make sure the names go well together, too.
Shaya & Micah / Shaya & Ari/Aryeh

Any thoughts? Very Happy

Thanks, boysrus!

Is your vote for Micha Aryeh? Or Aryeh Micha?

Micah was a prophet - In the Tanach I have, he's listed in the appendix as #25 of the 48 Prophets (according to Rashi). "Micah the Morashtite"
there's also a prophet listed here named Michaiah [son of Imlah]

My DS's name (Shaya) was also a prophet - Yeshayah/Isaiah - so there's something kind of nice about them both having names after prophets, I think.

Granted, I know close to nothing about any of the above prophets. I'm hoping that none of them were "not the nicest guys" since you've got to be pretty special to be a prophet, I'd think.

LOVE Micha as a first name. I also love Micah if he ever needs to use an English name.
Never heard anything bad about the prophet and anyway, how bad can a navi be?
Shaya and Micha sound great together.

There's a different Micha in Tanach who builds a temple for Avoda Zarah... well, first he steals his mother's gold, then builds an idol and a temple for it... about 30 minutes from Shilo where the Mishkan was at the time...

MICHA is one of the trey-assar. It's a fine name, much used. I have one myself....

I think the names are nice, but it sounds strange to have the same sound ending the first name and starting the second name.. it sorta makes the names run together.... it becomes Micaryeh.

Maybe reverse the order and use Aryeh Micah?

I like everything about Micha Aryeh - the sound, the spelling, the Biblicalness, how it sounds with Shaya. I also like Micah as an English name.

I like both names, but personally wouldn't put them together- although there's nothing wrong with it. If YOU like how they sound together, go right ahead! Both are very nice names.

I like Michah Aryeh! Michah is one of my favorite names, but DH has both a brother and and uncle named Michael (long story...) and he thinks it's too close to that.

I like the spelling Michah because I've seen it spelled that way for someone who wasn't Jewish and was obviously pronouncing it My-kuh. So it's a sort of "culture neutral" spelling if you know what I mean.
