No Gebrochts until after the second seder? But then ok after

Has anyone heard of this minhag? My friend told me on shabbos her family minhag is no gebrochts until after the second seder but they use the same dishes the entire time?

She didn't actually know the reasoning and I have never heard of this.
Has anyone ever heard of this or do this? Do you know the reason?

Just wondering because I thought it was interesting.

This is the minhag of my Bobov maternal side and my "various chassidish" paternal side.

The reasoning is the most machmir days are the first two/seder days. According to my grandfather.

I never heard of that, but my (parents) family does not eat gebrochts the entire Yom Tov, except for the last day.

The reasoning has something to do with if you haven't used the dishes in a year they lose whatever status they had so even though they were 'gebrochts' they aren't anymore by the time you get around to next year.

I have no idea about this minhag, though.

Dishes are ok the next year as is any cutlery that fell to the floor (many don't use that y't if fell down, even after washed)

Ruchel, I find that so interesting. Because the people that are Bobov that I know are ULTRA careful about gebroktz till the last day. They even keep the matzo in bags while they are on the table(for each individual person) so as not to get it wet.

This is what my husband's zayde did as a child in Poland. It makes sense because the mitzvah TO EAT matzah is at the seder. The rest of the time the mitzvah is to NOT eat chametz.
