The Agudah convention which took place last weekend, addressed as one of its main topics- respect of Gedolim. Speakers at the convention said that the presence of blogs gives people opportunity to bash Gedolim. They also criticized a well known Orthodox newspaper, suggesting its avoidance, for allowing letters to the editor that have a similar tone.

There aren't that many Orthodox papers around. The Hamodia and Yated both criticized "this paper" in their newspapers this week. I don't believe the paper they were referring to was the Jewish Press or the Mishpacha , because their letters are political in nature, most often centering around Israeli politics, and barely ever related to Gedolim. Which paper were they referring to?

Wouldn't it be lashon hara to say? (Which is probably why they refrained from mentioning the name of the paper in the first place.)

P.S. Maybe the Yated was referring to the Hamodia and vice versa? Laughing

Quite possibly, but how are we supposed to avoid it if we don't know which one? Maybe they meant more than one or maybe they meant it to be a subtle warning for all.

If rabbonim think people shouldn't read a certain paper then it would most definitely be for toelet to say which one. How on earth could you consider it lashon hara?

They probably refrained from the name either for legal reasons, or pc ones, or because it wasn't just one paper...
