I would first like to say that I cover my hair at all times when in public and usually at home too. I do not keep my hair covered in the bedroom.
I have thick and curly hair. I was thinking of getting the keratin treatment for two reasons.
1. I always have a hard time putting my hair under my shaitel without having a large bump stick out Rolling Eyes
2. My husband (and I) like the way I look much better with straight hair.
I occasionally iron it but it takes forever and only lasts till the next shower.

Has anyone done the keratin treatment? Do you know if there are bad side effects to the chemicals?

I don't want to do a Japanese straightening because I hate the stick look. I want it to look naturally straight with the bottom flipped in or something.

After getting the treatment the hair always dries perfectly even without blowing or ironing?

Please help with any information you ladies might know about it.
Thanks!

My sister did it. It looked great at first, but she did it right before the summer and swimming in a pool made it wear off. I'm guessing ur not going swimming in a pool all day, so it should look gorgeous for a long time.

A keratin treatment will help keep your hair smooth for several months. Depending on the specific type of keratin treatment, your hair will not necessarily be 100% straight after you wash it, but it will be a lot smoother, curls will be looser and frizz-free and your hair will be very easy to iron, should you decide to wear it completely straight.

You need to use a specific shampoo and conditioner (that's usually sold with the treatment) and not immerse your hair int he swimming pool, or it will not last as long.

Good luck.

Oh, I forgot to mention safety. Do careful research - some companies use formaldehyde in their formulas and they do not recommend doing the treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding. Other formulas are completely formaldehyde-free and are safer to use.

(BTW, I know all this as I am a hairstylist and I'm certified to do keratin treatments Smile )

My daughter did it. The Keratin treatment is very effective if you actually blow dry or use a hot iron. You also have to wash your hair only with Keratin shampoo. if you just let your hair air dry, it will not be straight, but definately will have less frizz.
