I was playing "would you rather" last night and came across the following question:
Would you rather have your significant other be sensitive to your feelings, or respect your intellect?
So far, every women I ask said sensitive to feelings, and every man said respect your intellect - including my 10 year old daughter and 9 year old son!
For curiosity's sake, what do you all think? And would you ask your husbands too?
Interesting survey. _________________ That's the way the cookie crumbles...

Respect my intellect.
Sorry to ruin the perfect record . _________________ But then again, I'm a dragon.

I would rather my significant other respect my intellect. Ooops, I guess I messed up your survey.
I also think we can intellectualize a position we reach based on feelings. When I am pms-ing, I know there is not logic to my feelings so I am ok we just acknowledge it is hormones and move on.

Definitely respect my intellect. Respecting my feelings over my intellect is chauvinist and patronizing.
This leads to men thinking that flowers or "lehavdil" diamonds can right wrongdoing. Not that I have anything against flowers and jewellry, I just like to get them in appreciation, not for atonement.

Respect my intellect.
Because with my intellect I can convey my feelings.

How are the two not totally connected? If someone doesn't respect my intellect which is such a major part of my personality, then by definition they also don't respect my feelings because how can they respect my feelings without respecting my intellect as well? I don't see how one can be without the other...one can't respect only half of a person if one is talking about an intellectual person... _________________ "Olam Chessed Yiboneh", Tehilim 89.
