I am making challah and just realized I don't have any of my regular oil left. I can't run out to buy more right now, so am wondering if I can use either olive oil or extra virgin oil oil.
Has anyone done this? Does it affect the flavor of the challah?

Any advice welcome, thanks!

I have used regular or "light" Olive oil with little olive oil taste, especially if you use LOTS of sugar! Wink Maybe if you made a really cake-like challah with vanilla, it might not taste so good.

Light is better was it tastes less like olives. Taste your oil and see what you think.

if you have extra light olive oil, it comes out great.

I also realized once at the last minute. It just tasted a little bit. . . olive oily Very Happy I decided to shape exactly as much as I needed into challahs, and I made garlic knots with the rest. It was perfect for that.

I've done it with extra virgin olive oil and it actually came out quite nice, everyone loved it.
Try adding actual olives into the dough and some fried onions on top or something.

Not so healthy cooking with Olive oil though but as a one off I sometimes do it.
Maybe it doesn't work with all recipes though of others had a negative experience

My family loves the flavor of olive oil, so they like it when I bake challah with it. Depends on your family.
