What can I do with them besides for putting them in salads? _________________ For every minute of anger, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.

| I make them into edja which is like frittatta. You basically chop the whole lot, mix with beaten eggs and either cook in a frying pan or pour into pie dish and bake in the oven. Stir-frys or fried rice also use lots of scallions. You can chop and freeze them in a ziplock.

| it will wilt, but doesn't make much difference if you're using it for cooking (as opposed to using for salad).

| Not the point of the thread...but where do you find chives in Israel? Or, what are they called? Thanks!

shoemaker - how do you make your dip?
Dev - I have no clue what they are called. At my fruit/veg store, I asked him for Batzal yarok and he showed me scallions and chives. I know that they also sell them at Osher Ad in the "Efrati" hechsher vegetables section.

I've seen them in the refrigerator section in those (pricey?) plastic boxes that herbs are sold in. I don't know if they are sold loose anywhere. The thing is, from what I remember, they are easy to grow in a window box.
