He's not out there to make a kiddush hashem, and the people that watch him aren't under the impression that that's his goal. We watch him b/c he's funny as heck.

I sure hope he is pro-jewish cause he is a jew himself, he is very active with jewish affairs, I dont think he is religous but he certainly does have high respect for his religion, he keeps kosher and shabbat in some form and he is an israeli Smile

But momoftwins, that's the whole thing with Borat. His character is meant to make fun of all the antisemites who believe all the stereotypes about jews.

I think there is one scene that we need to take VERY seriously.
its the one where he sings,,,,,,, throw the jew down the well........and after just a small bit of encouragement, all the people in the bar join in singing that song with him.
and this aint nazi germany either folks.

OK, so people do know who Borat really is, right? His name is Sacha Noam Baron Cohen and his parents are Orthodox. He is British, though his mother is Israeli. He still keeps kosher and doesn't use the phone or drive on shabbos. Any 'antisemitism' on his part is a spoof.

His cousin is a world-renown expert on autism. I am excited to see the movie.

I did not see the movie but have seen plenty of clips and have enjoyed it. My only problem is, in Russia when the problems with anti Semitism started it started with the comedians of the time poking fun at Jews and then it slowly creeped into the minds of the people that "hey he might have a point". I am very skeptical of comedians making a full movie with constant jokes about Jews. Its not as if there are only a scene or 2 about it this is his base of humor. Trust me I know I have seen many of his clips.

P.S. Anonnymus out of shame to say I watch this stuff.Its realy garbage.

The entire movie isn't of him making jokes about Jews - it's of him making fun of small-town (and big town) bigots.

Just watch that clip of the country and western bar. Brilliant, yet very, very scary. Now that the movie is out, I wonder what the reaction is in Tuscon?

And here I thought Borat was making fun of the Arab world. I thought he was supposed to be mimicking a Muslim! (I did not see the movie).
