depends what kind of cake,
not one that had to have eggs beaten up and fluffy or margarine and sugar creamed
a standard one bowl, mix everything together cake should be fine
you will probably need to mix it again tomorrow as some things might separate

I've done it plenty of times for a basic cake batter. Just cover it well and mix it tomorrow.

It might not be the best cake you've ever baked, but how bad could a cake be?

just make sure to give it a quick mix with a spoon or fork to mix up any parts that may have separated and bake.
I agree with paprika, it may not be the best but it will be a cake!

I do it all the time for standard one-bowl 'mix everything together' types of cakes. I will make the batter at night, not want to stay up till the cake bakes and then cools, so I put the batter in the fridge. The next day I let it return to room temp, stir slightly and bake as usual. Good every time.
