Present for moms 60th

You can always do the "sixty presents" thing. I did it when my husband turned forty with a few moderately decent presents (about $20) and a lot of inexpensive chatchkes. I attached a Bracha to every one, E.g. A flyswatter - may you never be bothered by the little things in life. It was the fun of reading each note that made it fun and impressive and showed that I had put thought into it.

Similarly, but on a more serious note, a friend of mine for her father's fiftieth gave him five presents, each one representing a decade. The last was a picture album with all his grandchildren. You could do just the album, if you want.

I just turned 60. Funny, don't feel different than 59.

Anyhow, the kids got together and got me a gorgeous Israeli painting that hangs proudly in my living room. And they made me a whole Motzei Shabbos delicious dinner, with the kids and grandkids, and I was the queen. Not a surpise- only the immediate family. Low key but really amazing. A professional photo of all the family is a great idea. So is a sixtieth video- you can go to all the people at work, at stores, etc. and have everyone wish her a happy sixtieth. I would love that.

We did a really nice thing for my mom's 50th and my MIL's 60th:

We basically called all of her friends, family, etc., and asked them to send a memory/one thing they learned from her. We also asked for a picture, wherever possible. Then we put them together in a scrapbook, so she had something to remember it forever.

It didn't cost a lot of money, and was really meaningful, and definitely appreciated.

This is something I actually did for my parents 25th wedding anniversary, but its such a meaningful and thoughtful gift that they loved and can be done for any occassion (and it not expensive either). I made the a personalized book on Shutterfly (or you can do it on Snapfish) with pictures of all the kids and made it into sort of like a story with funny comments about when each child was born and different funny memories we have as a family. You can totally personalize it however you want and I think it was about $25-$30 but the best part is the thought that I put into it, made it so special to them. I'll never forget how their faces lit up when they opened up the wrapping paper saw it (I also put their wedding picture on the front cover so they were totally wowed).
