Anyone else not get their food stamps in NJ this month?

my phone interview was was Oct. 24th but my period expires Oct 31.
so you are ahead of me you are Oct. 1 almost a whole month

NJ Foodstamps is changing over. Many caseworkers moved to TANF. If you are in Ocean County, call Toms River office and speak to a foodstamps representative. They will help you and direct you to the right person.

I noticed my foodstamp money didnt come in for Nov so I tried MANY times to contact the office.
I finally found out that the reason was because they canceled my account since I didnt recertify... I never recieved a letter to recertify so I had no idea that it was due!

I finally got a few numbers down pat for anyone else that needs:
The Lakewood office is now dealing ONLY with certification and recertification.
732-942-3949 need to speak to Ms. Gonzalez. If she doesnt help- you want to speak to Ms. Martinez the supervisor. I ended up going down though to the office because I couldnt get through on the phone.
I waited and BH I got an appointment to meet with a new caseworker.... more abt that soon.

Any additions that you need to add on... like new baby- now goes through the MANAHAWKIN office.
Mr Pigeon is the name of the guy you want to speak to and is VERY helpful. His direct line I believe is 609-242-6147 and his fax is 609-597-5731 if you want to just fax over the documents but be sure to put your case # on it.

many caseworkers have been moved to the toms river office as well.

The workload got out of hand and the caseworker system works very different now (it no longer goes only by letter of last name). They are extremelely backed up- especially because the hurricane victims got loaded onto the food stamps recently when they lost everything!
But be persistant and dont wait for it to come.... keep on top of it and keep calling until you get it!
I went in beginning of Nov to recertify... still waiting but hopefully will get it soon!

Oh and if you do decide to go into the Lakewood office... they open at 8:30 am and its a zoo as the day goes on so the earlier you get there the better!
