I'm not sure what I did wrong... I followed the recipe. But it tastes very salty.

How can I save it?

Maybe the recipe called for kosher salt and you used table salt which is much more dense?

Either way, add more chickpeas.

Did you start with canned chickpeas? They are often very salty to begin with. If it is from the chickpeas itself, adding more isn't likely to help.

I did use canned, but the recipe was for canned too.

I would add more chickpeas except that it's too much. does this freeze well?

add more sesame paste, lemon, oil and water, should help to dilute it.

Adding more lemon will just heighten the saltiness.

Add a touch of sugar and see if that works. If it does, add just a bit more.

Chummus freezes fine btw.
