I just moved DD out. She is almost 8 months.

I am still nursing through the night so it's really convenient to have her in my room. I would totally keep her in longer but she's a very light sleeper and I find that she sleeps better in her own room with a fan for white noise. When she was in my room she would wake up every time me or DH turned over in bed. It was getting really annoying.....

I moved my DS out at 6 weeks. I had planned to keep him in there longer, but this was better for all of us.

I moved my first out at 4 months bec she was a really light slepper and was waking up from us. As soon as I moved her out she slept through the night. My 2nd is 6 months and still in my room I'm hoping to move him out now.

DS moved out at around 12 weeks when we moved to a new apartment and got for him a big crib so there was no room for it in our room so he went in his own room but I really didnt want him to go yet even though he basically sleeps through he does wake up for his pacifier and I am always nervous I wont hear him even though both doors are open which then makes the air con work less.
However it just didnt pay to buy a small cradle for him to be too big for 2 months later and hte one he was in was a travel one and not so great.

My baby has not been sleeping in my room practically since she was born. I found that she sleeps much better if she's not in my room.

I start transitioning them out of my bed around 6-8months. So, if they wake up before midnight and they are older than that, then I'll put them back in their crib. If they wake up AFTER midnight, then they'd stay with me. Eventually they would wake up later and later until they were sleeping through the night.

However, all bets were off with my twins. They do now sleep in their beds Very Happy. We permanently transitioned them out around 4 1/2yrs - lol. I just couldn't compromise my sleep that much and had to do what was best for me.

I don't really make a plan in advance. With my ds, I wanted to co-sleep, but it was a disaster. So he was in a bassinet next to my bed. When he was about 6 months, he really was outgrowing it already. He also started a phase where he woke up literally every hour through the night to nurse, and I was slowly losing my sanity. I figured it was a good time to move him, and BH it worked out well. He transitioned smoothly to the big crib- I think at that point he was happy to have room to move around- and he started waking up only a few times at night to nurse.

dd- 12 months
ds - he's still in my room at 6 months but wakes up many times throughout the night. I am trying to decide if he'll be better in another room.

What if they really are nursing every 2-3 hours a night? My baby really eats fully and if I try to do anything else he gets hysterical.

I have a ds who is going to be a year and he still sleeps in my room due to the fact cause I only have one bedroom. But now imyh im going to have another one very soon so im going to divide my bedroom put ds in there and the other one in mine. But if not for having another baby I would prob still let him sleep in my room until the next one comes. doesnt bother me.

At hospital only. DH and I both prefer bringing the baby when needed but still having our room. I'm sure also the baby prefers sleeping without the music and movies! Wink

Both they and I sleep better when they're not in my room (and that's beyond the space issue). They go directly into their own cribs in a different room.

(OK, had to check this wasn't natural parenting before I posted!)

And yes, I'm still nursing my 16 month old 2-3 times a night. (Last night was every 1.5 hours...he must be getting ready to walk!)
