Well nothing really. I bought water and lot's of food on Friday. We never seem to have flashlights, I have no idea why. In any case my husband managed to buy a small one on Friday. We'll supplement with candles, or to be exact, tea lights.
But I really hope that the power stays on. I really need the aircondtioner. It's quite humid and hot out.

I'm listening to storm coverage on the radio and I know where the candles, matches and flashlights are.
Here in Baltimore it's very rainy right now. Pretty windy, I can hear it wuthering around the house. Our shul (on Greenspring) lost power this afternoon and there's a tree down on the next block -- you can't get through there. The lights in our home have flickered several times this afternoon and evening, but we have power.
Dh is putting some kind of quick-seal concrete patch stuff in the basement; so far it's leaking just a little. _________________

How long will this cooked freezer food last?
We have a large supply of nuts and I thank G-d every day that we are not allergic. _________________ Talk to Hashem and not to the dead,

A fully stocked freezer can keep cold for about 48 hours.
If you have a gas powered stove you can cook on the burners even with no power, but the oven won't work.

Lots of water and non-perishables. Moved the baby into our room for the night b/c his room has a big window (also, he might wake up frightened from the howling wind, so we want him to know Imma and Abba are close by). Car is parked in a parking garage- didn't want to risk a tree falling on it. We have every conceivable electronic device fully charged. Also, lots of alcohol so we can have a good time

We bought extra water and extra flashlights/batteries on Friday.
Have cans and crackers in the house from before.
We brought in the outdoor furniture, but left the trash cans.
Just put two huge pans of water in the freezer to make ice blocks. I should have thought about that earlier. Hope they will freeze quickly. _________________ Really Awesome Mom!

We have plenty of bottled water and canned and other staple food. Filled the tub with water for "sanitary purposes" It turns out that our big Maglite is shot, but we have 2 mini maglites, 2 regular flashlights, candles, a battery-powered radio, and plenty of batteries. Towels at the ready in case of leaks. Cell phones and iPod touch all fully charged. Car has a full tank.
The only thing we didn't get was extra propane for the grill, in case we lose power. But I doubt that will be a big problem.

Not as much as I'd like. But DS has cash (don't ask!), so we can borrow from him in case of emergency.

don't worry, I'm totally guilty of borrowing from my daughters' piggy bank. I pay them back in love.

I also filled up every large pot and the crock pot so that I will have water to wash dishes with. Froze every container that would fit in the freezer with ice so that stuff will last longer. Bathtub is full. We have food and water. We brought up valuables from the basement.
My neighbours are having a "hurricane party" lots of katy perry...

In Manhattan, so only minimally concerned about losing power. Will fill the bathtub, have charged the phones and laptops, and bought enough food/drink to ride it out. Working from home from Monday until the subways are back up.
DH is a Floridian, so this is no sweat to him. _________________ No kids. No comment.
