So in "honor" of the nine days I want to do falafel. Last time I used a recipe from Mishpacha magazine that was delicious but 1. too much work, 2. too fried (they actually weren't oily. but I'd still prefer less fried) and 3. too many! I know you can probably just shrink the recipe but I didn't realize it would yield enough balls to keep my freezer stocked long after anyone could stay interested (I invited over company, had falafel parties with both sides of the family, still had dozens left...)

I'm pondering this recipe http://www.food.com/recipe/grilled-falafel-138111

I like the idea that it's grilled and also that it uses canned chickpeas - usually I veer away from canned goods but I happen to have a couple of extra cans sitting around that I'd like to use up (bought them for a chumus recipe to go with the masses of falafel...)

Any comments/suggestions/recipes/etc?

check out defy gravity's falafel recipe on this site - I have used it several times, and it was perfect.

These aren't quite like fried falafel balls, but if you serve them in a warm pita with salad & techina, it's delicious. And the falafel is really easy to make.

Thanks for the pointer! Think it'll be ok if I don't have tabasco sauce?

It's also fried... but I could live with that...

I think it will be fine w/o the tabasco sauce.
