looks great!
does it freeze well?
does it get dried out when you re-heat?
basically, is it the kinda thing that needs to be served fresh or can it be made in advance?

Ally, Thank you!
Sleeping Beauty, I don't but I don't see why you can't. I have found the cherries in my local makolet but I've never done the water chestnuts as they're optional, so I don't know.
Est, I think it's best fresh. The flour makes a sort of breading and I think any chicken that has a breading or crust is best fresh. I've reheated for the next day but I haven't frozen it.

Hawaiin Chicken
1 chicken, cut into eighths and patted very dry
crispy coating
3 Tbsp flour
3/4 Tbsp garlic powder
1/2 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp margarine
hawaiin sauce
2 cups orange juice
3 Tbsp lemon juice
1 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp corn starch
1-2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 can water chestnuts (optional)
1 jar maraschino cherries, drained
1 medium can pineapple chunks, drained
Mix coating ing in bag. Shake chicken pcs to coat. Lay pieces in pan. Place small pc margarine on each piece, or drizzle with oil. Bake at 350, uncovered, for 50-60 minutes.
Meanwhile, boil orange juice, lemon juice, brown sugar, corn starch and soy sauce. Simmer until thick. Pour over chicken. Add water chestnuts, cherries, and pineapple. Continue baking uncovered for 45-50 minutes, until crispy and bubbly.
Garnish with pineapple slices and more cherries if desired. _________________ Really Awesome Mom!

When baking the first 50 minutes, do you need to cover the chicken or uncovered? _________________

Both bakings are uncovered.

I think it's amazing, but that's just my personal opinion. Maybe someone else that tried it can answer.
I don't find it sickly sweet because of the salt & garlic crust and because the soy sauce is quite present in the flavor.
