This is very interesting, thanks ladies.

I'm surprised the magazines don't get more votes. I mostly taught myself to cook with Food and Wine recipes, adapting them for kosher. Much easier now with the kosher columns and magazines. Cookbooks? I have too many for my own good, and like old friends, I wouldn't part with one of them. Most have not one photo.

For inspiration I often hit allrecipes to see what's rated highest, read and incorporate the comments. I had one winner, margarine-free chocolate crinkle cookies and one dud, also marg-free, oatmeal craisin cookies this Shabbos from allrecipes. So it goes.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

Since this discussion started I've tried to be more aware of the regulars in the frum weeklies I get and I still can't keep all of them straight. Some yes, but others no. Weird. I do know who I don't like so much, I.e. who doesn't thrill me Confused

Family recipes, sometimes an idea seen on a forum or online.
Lots of cookbooks, Jewish (Yekke Polish Greek Italian Sefardic...) and not.

Have discovered recently that a landsleit of my dad has recipes from her grandma who was the inn keeper of the shtetl, and I am asking her lots of things!

I do not know of kosher food magazines sold here. I doubt I would buy it without knowing most of it is "our style".
