Strong and sturdy backpack-where to buy

Dd needs a strong and sturdy backpack for school- one durable and comfortable enough to carry looseleafs and books without breaking her back, and one with plenty of room in it. Where should we look?

I was a firtst grade teacher for a few years, so I can tell you from expereince that the cutes and stongest,, stay nice in shape, doesnt stain, is the one on Lillian vernon catalog or online, its a navy backpack, and they embroider the name in red, you can also choose diffrent color if you want.
it was funny I have few younger sister, and they told me keep an eye out for good backpack when their Dd would start first grade, and this is the one I picked for them, now her Dd are both going into 5th grade and the bag looks new. it cost about $50 but on the long run its a worhwhile invesment. good luck

look at the lands end backpacks

Lands end when they are on clearance! You can get them for 8 bucks or less.

at what point in the year can you find the backpacks on sale for $10?

I bought one for my ds in January this year. I guess they go on clearance soon after school starts.

It's sporadic. I've gotten as late as May, IIRC, for that price. Check overstocks from time to time...but yes, summertime is less likely to have that cheap.

the backpacks are 20% off right now so the $34 backpack is now $27

I cant wait till after the school year starts since my son needs one at the start of school

or do you think I should wait it out and they'll have a better deal through the summer?

I found the Childrens Place ones to be very durable (surprisingly). I bought one for DS and he used it for 2 years in a row, and it still was in great shape, but I then bought another one for the next year (just for a change of scenery), it held up beautifully, and he will use it again this year. I got on sale for $8. I should add that his knapsack was so heavy this past year that I could barely hold it!
