For ds #1, we got a real twin bed with drawers underneath, etc. He was our first, and it seemed much more worth it to buy a twin that he'll be able to stay in long term. Now, with ds #2, he has to move to a bed, but we were looking at toddler beds and they were cute, and inexpensive, but how long could he possibly be in there for?
Then what do you do with then (obv. after you have any other kids)?
Is it worth it, or a waste of money? _________________ Just Plain Frum!

Waste of money. The kid will eventually need a twin size bed. Why bother ?
P.s. Many little things are cute. Don't be swayed.

I bought one 3 years ago and got one last year. My two little girls age 3 and 4 1/2 sleep there. They love it. And I find it very convenient in terms of them not falling and changing the linen. I easily see them sleeping there at least till age 5-6 iyh. Then ds will get one and older dd will go onto a twin bed. _________________

| I have one which I use from about age 2 1/2 until the next child is ready for it- first of all the kids love sleeping in it, the child getting ready to go into it starts wanting their turn for it already...it is safe and easy for the kid and great for night toilet training- easy for the child to get in and out of bed in the middle of the night to use the bathroom even if they are half asleep/groggy. Also the blanket is smaller than a twin so the kid doesnt get all tangled up in it.

I bought a nice wood one for $50. however, if I actually had the room I probably wouldve just put them in a regular bed. That being said, I did get a lot of use out of it (2 kids used it so far and one day my baby will I guess!) so for $50 that's not bad- and you don't need new linen- uses the crib mattress and sheets.
also, if it's the size that you want, maybe your crib can become your toddler bed? I did that also at one point. I had to turn the crib around (for the non-push down side) and unscrewed the side and voila! toddler bed.

We got an inexpensive one from IKEA which holds up very well. We have passed it down from child to child whe the need arises.
I like it because it's lower to the ground than a regular bed so a toddler can get out of bed more safely. (My kids tend to transition out of their cribs while they are still somewhat short.)
Our kids' twin beds are captain beds w/drawers underneath so they are very high -- a bit too dangerous for a 2-year-old.

I think it's totally worth the money. You can use it, depending on size, up until age 5 or even 6. 3 years usage out of it is completely worth it IMO. I liked that it took up way less room than the big bed, was easier to clean/change and that it felt more 'cozy' for my son. _________________ Live the life you want to live. | We have a toddler bed for our 6 yo because we don't have place for anything bigger. I believe she'll be sleeping in it until we move out wheather she fits in it or not. LOL. I think it's a good thing to have anyway.

I think it depends on your individual situation.
Pros:
Makes night-training a thousand times easier
don't have to worry about child falling and hurting himself/don't need seperate guardrail
takes up less room
easier to change linens
Cons:
Can't be used past a certain age
Also, if you have a lot of small children close in age, it may very well be a good investment for you. You will get many years of use that way. I know that for me, I would've loved to get a toddler bed, since ds (age 3) has 2 siblings in line after him b"H who will also need a bed soon iy"H. However, we already had a bunkbed in the room and there was no room for a toddler bed as well. But we had more space or no bunkbed, I totally would've bought one. _________________ For every minute of anger, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.
