| LOL Reminds me of how my friend stopped reading her favorite book to her child after they had a mice infestation problem... "If you give a mouse a cookie"....

| Now that's one of my all-time faves but I can see how it could be a problem if your kid takes books too literally! Come to think of it, one of my problems with GM was that bowl of cereal mush in the bedroom. Who lets kids eat in the bedroom, especially at bedtime when they should have brushed their teeth?

| Really? Like which, aside from the ones like Animorphs and such that are meant to be creepy?

No, what do you find creepy?
My mother even made up a lullaby-like tune for it, and I can sing it off the top of my head, no book necessary. When my sister was in sem in Israel, she found a copy of it in Hebrew for my DS to carry on the tradition. _________________ I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

No way. That's probably my favorite childhood book of all time. All my kids can say it by heart along with me. You need to read it starting loud, getting lower, lower, lower, whispering, until "Goodnight noises everywhere". It's the best! _________________ Let your fellow's honor be as dear to you as your own and do not anger easily (Pirkei Avos/t)

Nope. I read it every night to my 1.5 yr old DS and he loves it. I like the repetition (and he already knows to put a finger to his lips when the old woman whispers hush ) _________________ Mommy to

What in the world do you find creepy about it?

What's so creepy, we love it in our house.
Now the I love you forever book is a bit creepy. Why is she driving across town in the dark to sneak into her sons room.

If You Give A Mouse a Cookie is a mashal about kids - it's not about mice.
Goodnight Moon is the sweetest! But I did see years ago that it was featured in a soap opera where the mother of a baby died. She videoed herself reading it to the child. That was creepy - "Goodnight air. Goodnight noises everywhere." BDE. _________________ "Often the things you worry about don't happen but other stuff does."

On the topic of Goodnight Moon, did anyone else ever notice that in the beginning of the book, it talks about all the things in the great green room - no mention of clocks and socks. But when they say good night to everything, they mention clocks and socks?
Maybe I'm weird, but I've been wondering about this ever since I was a kid! My dh thinks I'm nuts... _________________ For every minute of anger, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.

off the subject of Goodnight Moon (really funny but not worth posting here...for those of you who were once The Who and classic rock fans, there is a parody of Good Night Moon---Good Night Keith Moon..it's on You Tube)
anyway, speaking of creepy, but getting off the subject of Good night moon were some of those traditional Wizard of Oz books (they were weird and great...the ones written at the beg of the 20th century..)
but there were several odd parts...when Dorothy and company fell alseep in a field of Poppies (umm Opium reference anyone..I think that was cut out of the movie)
And in another Wizard of Oz book, the Tin Man gives Glenda the Good Witch a tin girdle for her birthday...
ummm..

| a girdle isn't what you think - it was just a belt-type garment.
