Take 9x13 pan Slice LOTS of onions, put half on bottom of pan.
Rub Brisket with Onion Soup Mix and place over onions
Top Brisket with remaining sliced onions and pour beer over the top
Bake covered in the oven 3 hours? I think Its been a while.

Then cool, slice and reheat uncovered in the onion gravy mix YUM!

We like:

Saute onion, green peper, and some celery. Add the meat and turn to brown for 5 minutes on each side.

Pour a can of cranberry sauce and a can of tomato sauce over it.

Let cool for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Slice and serve.

Mmmmmmmmmm

Oh boy, that sounds like an amazing brisket recipe-- so much more interesting than the old coca cola/onion soup mix/ketchup recipe. And DH loves anything cooked with beer... we even replace some of the water in our cholent with beer!

this is what I make:

can of pineapple with juice
onions
water
honey
sugar
salt pepper
starch

take brisket and cook in a pot with water salt, pepper and sliced onions untill tender. then transfer to a bakeing dish reserve some liquid from the pot about half a cup and pour over the brisket, in a sauce pan mix together pineapple juice, honey, sugar, and let it come to a slow boil add a little bit of starch and mix it untill it thickens a bit. put pineapple slices all over the meat and then pour the sauce over the meat, cover and bake for a an hour or more.

I sprinkle the meat with garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.
I pour ketchup over it and then add water until the meat is covered.

Sometimes I add celery, onions and carrots. Half way through I put it potatoes. Although it comes out good without adding anything.

I cook it for 5-6 hours, checking the ketchup and water every so often to make sure it hasn't gone down to much. If DH is around, he slices it halfway through (I make a mess when I try!)

IT IS AMAZING! and its sooooooooo easy. When my Mother makes it she always sears the meat then sautees the onions with what stuck from the meat on the pan. You realy dont have to do that though, this is so easy to make, 5 minutes and its in the oven! And it tastes like a bit of heaven, try it!
