So, the economy sucks; what does a wife do when her DH has absolutely no education? Like he started a vocation program when he was 18 after his parents promised to pay for it, but they shirked their obligations and DH was removed from the program. He found a job with a national retail chain (that has now gone under) and worked there for three years. He has been working in his own business since, but it is a total failure. Right now he is literally paying to go to work.
We have fertility issues so I need DH to find a job that provides health insurance (I am in school fulltime and wont be done for another 2.5 years- my school doesn't offer health insurance); he has applied to literally 100's of places in different fields and we are getting nowhere.
We maybe have enough $$ to do one more cycle before we go broke, and right now we are living off our student loans and government help. DH has started doing an online school program but obviously he has a LONG way to go and needs to find a job ASAP.
Is anyone in a similar situation? It is driving me crazy that he is practically unemployable!

Right now it seems he should just try to find a job.. ANY job even if he feels it is below his dignity to work at such a place example: target.
Right now he should try to get whatever he can and while at that job he can look to upgrade but in the meanwhile anything is better then nothing.
Also maybe u can give us some ideas what your husband is good at? Can he teach? Can he tutor?

He has applied to the following places so far: Macys, Shoprite, Target, Wegmans, A+P, Pathmark, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, different smaller stores. He has no problem working graveyard shifts/ stacking shelves/ whatever but he literally hasn't got one callback. I am so lucky and grateful to him b/c he is willing to lower his standards and do ANYTHING to bring in money, but nothing is coming of anything.
He has retail and kitchen skills (and he has a terrific heart ) but none of these seem to amount to much when looking for employment.

OP, I have to say that after some other recent threads, it is really refreshing to read about your DH trying so hard. I sincerely hope things turn around for you and DH soon!
The only thing that comes to mind right now is that sometimes the state employment offices offer programs in job-retraining and things like that. Might be worth looking into.
