Baby has not made a bowel movement in over a week!

its been over a week since my 8 month old has last pooped. baby is breastfed and eats some solids as well. is this normal? or a reason to be concerned? thanks!

She's probably constipated. Some babies become constipated as their system adjusts to solids. They also require more to drink. Give her undiluted prune juice to drink until she has a BM. Offer it constantly. Then, to keep this from happening again, make sure to offer her water constantly throughout the day, especially now in the warmer weather. With my baby I've also found that raisins and blueberries help, my baby eats raisins or blueberries or both every day to avoid constipation. Also, ask your dr. just in case.

be careful with prune juice!
you dont want to overdo it.
I once gave my baby, then 4 months old, a little too much prune juice, and he had stomach cramps for the next few hours.
so go slow.
I for sure wouldnt give more than a third of a cup per day at this age.

my pediatrician said it's o.k. to give one (infant) suppository every day.

we were about to try the tips mentioned above but Baruch Hashem we didnt need to.
