Smile I have only done it the way we do it so I can't compare. Olive oil and hand matzos aren't cheap, neither are romain lettuce or potatoes.

I dunno, Pesach seems to be awfully expensive regardless. Nut oil costs about three times as much as regular oil. When do we ever bake with so many nuts? Matza costs what, ten times as much as bread?

Anybody who cooks from scratch will save a lot of money all year long. The time invested into cooking from scratch translates into a loss as well, just not a financial one

We don't use processed foods but meat is expensive! And so are fruits. My kids could go threw a box of apples and a box of mangerines and a box of bananas in just a few days on pesach as they have nothing else to eat.

MrsMortgage, I don't think the savings are the same Pesach when you don't have cheap ingredients like flour, beans and rice to start with.

Meat, potatoes, eggs, matzah, and even vegetables are expensive.

Sorry, Grin. You might save money but everyone doesn't save money.

Well, most people don't need to serve meat or fish twice a day. if you eat gebrokts you can have tuna sandwiches or whatever for lunch. We can't do that - it needs to be proper food. And you can't eat eggs every meal.

actually, on 2nd thought, I agree with cc and raisin - our matzos are way more expensive and yes, meat costs much more than matzo brei - but that's OK - it's all on HKBH's expense account! Wink

a kosher and freilichin pesach to one and all, no matter what you'll be eating!!
