Boil in a bag gef. fish???????

sephardic girl attempting her first gefilte fish... the instructions say to boil in its bag... REALLY??????!!!!! will it fall apart if I take it out of the bag?SERIOUSLY THOUGH. what am I supposed to do with this?

Which brand? They are probably talking about the paper around the fish.

Yup! That's the way to do it! (Its not a bag btw its just parchment paper wrapped around it to keep it together) just fill a pot with water I ussually slice an onion and some carrots and throw it in add some salt and pepper and when the water bubbles add the fish and cook for abt 2 hrs... enjoy!

thanks! we really like gefilte fish. maybe one day I'll muster up the courage to make my own. for now the frozen will have to do. now once I had the fish in a tomato and zuchini sauce. it was delicious. do you boil it first and then add it to the sauce or do you boil it in a sauce?

For that kind of fish you bake it in the oven with the sauce. don't boil, just bake.
