A really great recipe is the asian steak salad from Kosher by Design. |
Love the KBD salad! It's superb!

| I'm sure your guests will be happy with whatever is served. If they didn't want to eat food that is not top gourmet class I'm sure they would have found a way to decline your invitation. Good luck!

It's easy and that perfect combo of salt and crunch. I can post if you are interested (I'll have to go find the recipe.) |
I would be interested in that recipe if you can find it. thanks!

This shabbos I tried something new and it was fabulous and easy.
I made kohlrabi waldorf salad. It is also low carb.
All I did was dice the kohlrabi into cubes, sliced celery thinly and added some cashews.
The dressing was a Tbsp of mayo, lemon juice and stevia.
I used very little dressing for the amount of salad I made and I let it marinate from before shabbos.
The guests loved it. They were expecting apples and had a pleasant surprise. The kohl rabi doesn't turn brown or mushy, so I served it shabbos day as well, and it was even better.
You can add any thing you want, but we all enjoyed that you were able to distinguish all the flavors because it had very little dressing.
Simple and delicious. Enjoy!!!

roasted tomatoes
flatbread salad
coleslaw (dh must have at meat meals)

| I guess I'm here sort of late, but I don't think that you have to cook around a guest, unless there is an allergy situtation.

1 box of puffed rice cereal
1 large container of marshmallow fluff or melted marshmallows
1 stick of margarine
Marshmallows or fluff is melted together with margarine, and the box of cereal is mixed in. The whole thing is spread on a jelly roll pan or similar. After the whole thing hardens (some people refrigerate it), you slice it into bars.
It's often the first "recipe" kids make when they learn to cook, and it's about as subtle and sophisticated as that implies. On the other hand, it's a tremendous guilty pleasure for lots of people whose tastes are generally more discerning.
