It's halfway through the school year. What does her teacher say? _________________ "Often the things you worry about don't happen but other stuff does."

| Maybe for now, and if it doesn't help then she can repeat first grade or maybe she needs a special school? It got to be ridiculous when our son was pulled out for every subject. He needed special education.

Being left behind is not always the answer. It might not make it easier - just might push off some things for a year. Where there's a learning issue, it might require special ed tutors or a special ed class - as other posters have mentioned. Pushing it off for a year would then just be - pushing it off.
My niece is pre-dyslexic and has to be tutored in many subjects. But socially and in all other respects she's on the level of 2nd grade. Pushing her back a year would just make her lose her self-esteem, and be more mature than her peers leading to abnormal social interaction, etc...so there's no point.
There are professionals who can test your child to see what grade level they are at in terms of many areas beyond just academics, like social skills, motor skills, etc...I know someone who does that in Lakewood where I live. I'm sure there are people who specialize in this in other cities. _________________ Chayalle
