| I think we should all call the White House and ask why nothing is being done in New York. Who is with me on this? Will it help?

| I don't think so. the Federal Govt has nothing to do with this. MAYBE albany, which is defunct anyway.

The federal government is not responsible for cleaning city streets.

| The Federal Government may not be responsible for providing local snow cleaning, but they are responsible for providing assistance when a local or state official requests it. Mayor Bloomberg dropped the bat on this one. He should have declared New York a disaster area and requested Federal assistance. The streets would have been cleared more quickly, cars would not be blocking major thoroughfares, and no one would have died because ambulances and fire engines could not navigate the mess. Thank HKBH that we have Hatzolah. They went above and beyond what anyone could have asked of them. They will have their place in olam habah.

I agree with this. _________________ I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently. I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they're not alone.

AIUI, the *assistance* that the federal government provides is limited to certain circumstances (this storm could meet the criteria) and is FINANCIAL. IOW, the feds pay part of the bill. I'm not aware of circumstances in which the feds send equipment (where would the feds GET snow removal equipment? how would they transport it?) or personnel. I'd be interested in any information to the contrary.
