It is. Fine to do so. Milk was cold. I guess it's not a good habit to get into. It's important for people to know what's Halacha and what is just being over the top.

I wouldnt first of all chinuch second of all just in case it would spil a drop/ if meat is on counter... s/t without chapping youd take a fleishig cup for it... Id rather avoid teh peblm then do it. However because its cold there is less of a prblm but I wouldnt do it anyway.

People have different COUNTERS?

Wow... I need a bigger kitchen (yeah, in my dreams).

it isnt the ideal, but if we do it, or Ds does it, we just pick it up and move it, and wipe up any moisture.

As long as it's cold, it is not a halachic issue, just wipe it clean after in case it dripped. As Sequoia said, not everyone can have separate counters. But once you do it's probably a matter of good habit to preferably only put the milk on the dairy counter.

yeah, my counters are all equally treif. and if you want to know just how lenient the halachos really are - you could techinically use the eggs you breaded shnitzel in and make a cheesy omelet. just saying, don't go crying over spilled milk ;]

I have. My counters are totally separate with a break in between so I don't often do it, but it has happened. I don't think it's a big deal if it's cold. I wouldn't put hot chicken on my milchig counters but cold milk I don't see a problem with.

Like ppl said, its not a good habit to get into so I *try* not to do it but being that I have very limited counter space, sometimes I put the cold milk on a fleishig counter briefly and its totally fine halachically cuz the milk is cold. not true that no normal frum couples do this...

so thats what I said. that its cold and not a problem. and he said "its still not a normal thing that a jewish mother would do" so he knows its not a problem he just didn't think ppl would do it.

he doesnt' like when I put the milk container next to the chicken soup pot in the fridge either. they are both closed and clean. I dont see the problem.

I do, because my kitchen is so small, but I always put a towel underneath the milk container.

In the fridge, I do not put them side by side. I keep them a few inches apart at least.

Your dh has halachic OCD. It's perfectly fine halachically with cold milk. I've done it.

Absolutely. We only have a tiny 2 inch milchig counter and a huge fleishing counter. I use the fleishig counter as my main counter. We pretty much as a rule just don't put anything hot down on it, but if we needed to, we'd put the hot fleishig on the fleishig counter, etc. No, I wouldn't put milk down on a dirty fleishig counter, but if it was clean, sure!

Halachically, it's not a problem if the counter is clean, but I wouldn't say it's a good habit.

no because I'm allergic to milk and most of my food prep is done on the 1 sqare foot of fleishig counter.

or maybe my answer should be no, I don't own a bottle of milk but have put cold chicken on the non milchig, just used by last tenant 3 years ago for milchgs counter
