I'd like to serve potato borekas for a Shabbos day appetizer. Obviously I can't serve it with a sauce, so any other creative/tasty ideas for what to do with them?

Thanks!

Do you want to serve "just" potato borekas? They are usually eaten "as is", without any sauce or anything. I can't even think of what they go well with besides pickles and olives.

Yes, of course they are good plain. But I am thinking about them a little differently-- as a puff pastry appetizer, and want to dress it up a little. But maybe you're right yesha-- I can just squirt some mustard on the plate decoratively.

I guess some people would like it that way.... maybe my DS #2 would eat bourekas with Red Hot, since he eats it with practically everything else. But for the rest of the world, plain bourekas are probably fine. Maybe the Greek or Turkish eat them with yogurt? For sure a brown egg next to the boureka is appropriate but you can't dip it.... hey maybe potato bourekas on a bed of egg salad? Colored with bits of red pepper and scallions... would that work?

That's what I would do.

I once went to someone who make a cold, thick avocado-mayo sauce and used a baggie with a hole to place in zig zags on the plate and strategically placed two bourekas and it was so pretty. Can't help u with the recipe but if u make a cold one that is maybe mayo or something thick it should be fine
