Does anybody know if the hechsher KSA Kosher is good on the Santa Fe Tortilla wraps I saw in Costco? They were whole grain and few calories and a great price.

According to the rav I asked it is good and it's widely accepted. Best thing to do though would be to ask your LOR.

Um not sure how that makes me any different. Call the Bais Horaah in Lakewood, that's who I call when I have a shailah.

Jewels- sorry, I wasn't intending to dismiss what you said at all! On the contrary, I appreciate your answer, but you specifically told me to ask my local rabbi, so I was just asking if anybody from Lakewood had asked any of the local rabbis here, and what they had answered! Are you from Lkwd? And you asked specifically about this hechsher and was told it was okay? I hope to find an answer because I would love to buy the wraps. Thanks!

Lol no offense taken. Most of my siblings live in Lakewood and my husband works while they learn so they always make fun of me that I'm not the yeshivish one. I shouldve put a smiley, I was joking. Anyway like I said as far as I know it's a universal good hechsher. I lived oot for a while and kosher brands were hard to find. I was always on the lookout for non-jewish brands with good acceptable hechsherim. I think I actually called the Bais Horaah to ask them about this one! Laughing

Thanks, Jewels. I'm glad you weren't offended. Very Happy The reason I asked is because when I googled ksa kosher to see what hechsher it even is, one of the google answers was actually a post from imamother about ksa kosher where some women answered that they knew Ksa was NOT so good, and one person mentioned that each item has to be asked about... so I was wondering if anybody knew about these tortilla wraps specifically, or if anybody had asked their rabbi (in lkwd would be even better!). But you say that the Bais Horaah told you that hechsher is okay for everything?

You know how it is you'll get 10 different opinions thats why you should always ask yourself. I asked about some cookies but it was a while ago so I would double check it.

I'm some anonymous person online so I don't think you should rely on me for kashrus, but: I know the mashgiach personally, I have been inside the factory, and fully trust the mashgiach's yiras shomayim and the hashgacha on the product. KSA is based in LA, run by Rabbi Binyamin Lisbon www.ksakosher.com

As for Pas Yisrael- the way the tortillas are made the dough goes through a cooking mechanism that is on all week. When the mashgiach goes he does do something to the mechanism (I forgot how exactly it works) that effectively makes all the tortillas from that day's batch pas yisroel, and those are the only ones he himself uses because he's makpid on only pas yisrael.
There are more details to the product, but I'm not sure they need to be posted online. Call the rav you trust to ask about them, though I sometimes wonder how they would know random details- like if the owner is a Jew and challa was taken or whatever.

I'm not from lakewood so yes, check with your LOR but when I checked, the answer I got was that for a few years they were not ok but they implemented some changes and now are acceptable.
