Do I need to buy both rain boots & snow boots?

Do I need to buy both rain boots & snow boots for my 3 year old or can she use rain boots in the snow as well?

What do you all do?

The rubber boots are great for both weather conditions.

Rainboots do not keep feet warm at ALL. I would buy a warm pair (snow boots, uggs etc) and rainboots.

the snow can get into the rain boots. I guess it depends what you need them for to get into and out of a car or to play in the snow. rainboots should be enough for the car but not for playing.

don't uggs get wet if you wear them in the snow or is it only the knock offs?

If you expect to have her (him? sorry) play in the snow this winter, snowboots are a must.

Unless you expect him (her?) to play in the rain, or you do lots of walking in all types of weather, you can skip the rain boots. Esp since the snow boots can be used in the rain if its cold enough.

I would get snow boots and that�s it, as it is neither will get that much use before they are outgrown.

It depends where you live. Growing up, I only had snow boots, and used them well. I stayed indoors in the rain and ran with my shoes to the car, bus etc.

I bought snow boots for her last winter & she barely wore them. For a while she refused to walk or play in the snow (she didn't want to get "dirty" Laughing

), & by the time she warmed up to the idea, the winter was nearly over.

Being that she'll be a year older this winter, she'll probably want to play in the snow, but I never know with her.

We walk home from nursery every day, about a ten minute walk, so that is mainly what she would need the boots for. I figured rain boots would be helpful on a rainy day & I was wondering if those would do the job in the snow as well.

Buy only rainboots. They'll be fine for a walk in the snow. If the snow is really high or (s)he's going out to play in the snow, put on 2 prs of socks to keep toes warm. You can also get leg warmers and add those on very cold days.
