I made a soup, and added a bay leaf. The recipe says to remove it before pureeing, but I cant find it!!! Is it terrible to blend the missing leaf together with everything else?
BTW, I used a dried leaf.

Try using the large holed serving spoon to "sift" thru the soup, it might show up.

I would not pure it with the bay leaf in it. Bay leaves do not get soft and edible when they are cooked. I would think that it would make fibrous chewy bits in your soup if you pureed it.

I wouldnt puree it either. Sifting through the soup should help you find it.

happens to me a lot. pureeing it makes the bay leaf sort of like eating a sharp bone. get yourself a tea ball for the next batch of soup.

Wrapping it in a piece of cheesecloth will also work.
I had the same problem today in my spaghetti sauce. It had 2 bay leaves in it and I could only find one.

Okay, so here's what I did. I couldnt find that darn leaf for the life of me. So I just pureed the soup as is and BNM - it was absolutely scrumptious!!! I adjusted the herbs, though, since my husband doesnt like strong herb-y flavors, but it was really, really good. Bnm, it's not the winter white soup, it's called root vegetable soup. Yum.
